John M. Patterson shared the following letter with us and asked us to post it; we decided it was important enough to grant his request: Dear LiL-Paw My name is John M. Patterson, and I wanted to make you aware of a design problem of your hamster wheel. The wheel is responsible for the death of our pet Gabbie, she got stuck in the crossbars between the wheel and the support structure and suffocated to death. I know that you are probably unaware of the problem and may not even be sure of a fix for it. Within this letter are two possible redesigns that will remove the problem with very little if any additional costs. The problem is where the bars cross, I have moved that area to the upper part of the wheel away from the animal. Or perhaps you have a better way of fixing the problem. We are informing several different organizations that deal with pet issues of this potential problem, and have already informed the store of the incident. I know it isn’t your intention to bring harmful things to market and I’m sure you would have made different changes given the option. I give you these two possible designs to have and use as you see fit in hopes that something like this doesn’t occur again. Thank you for your time. Sincerely Angela M. Hoag John M Patterson
